The Boston Red Sox and the Ron Burton Training Village have joined forces to create an exciting youth outreach program which affords the opportunity for young boys and girls to attend a fellowship retreat. This retreat weekend is designed to spiritually, physically, educationally and socially teach and motivate children to be exceptional human beings not only in their homes and schools but in their communities as well. It is also designed to expose them to an entirely new world outside of their neighborhood environments.
The Boston Red Sox, in our continued youth outreach through the Boston Area Church League and other youth organizations, are going the extra innings to insure that our young boys and girls have the opportunities to enrich their lives in the most meaningful ways. The Ron Burton Training Village’s unique approach to “Life Building” has assisted in the spiritual, physical and educational growth of over two thousand children over the past 20 years. Along with physical fitness activities, children will be involved in life skills sessions and Bible studies throughout the weekend. “Our philosophy is to embrace children with caring people, beautiful, peaceful surroundings, and compassionate positive messages through physical training and academic and spiritual teachings. We know that what a child sees and hears, and how a child is treated begins to establish the foundation of the mentality with which he or she will approach life. We also know that how they treat others will directly effect their successes in life.”
The retreat will be held at the Ron Burton Training Village in Hubbardston, Massachusetts. Sixty participants (ages 10-14) will be shuttled from Fenway Park’s Gate D area to the campsite. Campers should bring sleeping bag, towels, toiletries, sneakers, workout clothes and other warm attire for the weekend. Campers should not bring money, jewelry or any other valuables. Medical forms and waiver/release forms must be filled out and signed by a parent or legal guardian before campers can participate in the weekend. A registration fee of $25.00 will be due along with the registration forms at least two weeks prior to departure.
