Fred Seymour Jr

Director

Fred Seymour is a Major League Baseball employee at the Office of the Commissioner in New York City. He serves as the Senior Director, Minor League Operations and Affairs. The role entails assisting the entire PDL Affiliated Minor League system, which consists of 120 clubs with stadium structural and field renovations to assure MLB facility compliance. One of his proudest accomplishments is forming a Spit Tobacco and Vaping Education and Cessation Program, which is devoted to helping ballplayers who may have developed a tobacco addiction. The use of tobacco products is currently banned by MLB at the Minor level and in several Major League ballparks. The cessation program Seymour created is more than a legacy piece. It is program which affects not just the person who currently suffers from addiction but is intended to positively affect their future familial generations from every using such products. The overall mission of the program is one of hope and to free individuals from the bondage of tobacco addiction to enable individuals to experience a healthy full life after baseball.

He has worked for multiple Major League Baseball organizations including the Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Indians, Montreal Expos and Arizona Diamondbacks in the areas of scouting, player development, video coaching and communications. Prior to working at the Baseball Office of the Commissioner he held the position of Director of Baseball Operations for the Arizona Fall League, which has been referred to as a “Finishing School” for Minor League players, who are about to embark upon the careers as impact players in the Major Leagues.

Seymour grew up in Binghamton, New York. He was the co-captain on the Binghamton High School Baseball team during his senior year which won the Section 4 and Far West Regional Championships. He then attended Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida where he was a member of a Sunshine State Regional Championship and Div. II College World Series Teams. He graduated with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Psychology and later earned a Master’s of Science Degree in Psychology with a concentration in Sport from California Southern University. He later earned the distinction of becoming a Binghamton High School Distinguished Graduate as well as earning the honor as a member of the Greater Binghamton Sports Hall of Fame.
