Luis serves as a Lieutenant for the Massachusetts Port Authority Fire Department, and a Chaplain (Captain) for the Massachusetts Army National Guard. He and Liannys are also the youth ministers at the church in which they grew up, Assembly of Christian Churches in Framingham. Luis and Liannys were married in 2013. They have two young daughters, Luz Ivette (7) and Leila Carmen (6).
As a young soldier, Luis deployed to Iraq in 2004. When he returned to Massachusetts, his siblings, Oscar and Antonio (both knights of Ron’s Table) were preparing for their 5-week summer training at RBTV. Because he had been a world away from them for the past year, he was willing to do nearly anything to spend the summer with them. So, he approached Ron Burton Jr. and asked how he could serve. Ron grabbed him and didn’t let him go; making him sign a lifetime contract. Luis served as the director for the Tyros during their summer sessions for the following 10 years. He continues to help with weekend retreats and speaking to the campers whenever possible.
